About

I’m Murray, a Seattlite, artist, writer, and most importantly, dad. 2015 saw the beginning of a new chapter of my life when my daughter Rosamond was born. I shut down my business of three years, a letterpress print shop, and dove head first into being a stay at home dad. I was lucky enough to have my wife’s help for almost the first three months, as she is a teacher and her school preferred she take the full trimester off rather than swapping in a sub short term. Then, in month three, it was all me.

At first, I was a driver. That had been my habit since moving to Seattle, but I had been getting more and more sick of it as traffic got worse and worse. We had bought a Yuba Mundo back in 2013 and I had used it for a while hauling things for my print shop. As driving got less and less appealing my wife and I decided to take the plunge into family biking. We had been talking about it since before the pregnancy, and the time seemed right. We had an electric-assist system installed from G&O Cyclery here in Seattle, found a Yepp Mini on Craigslist, and ever since I’ve been biking most everywhere, with and without my daughter.

So, this blog, in short, is about my adventures as a stay at home dad, and my journey from driver to family biker. It’s an exciting path and I hope you’ll follow along.
